The Digital Designer will support the organization’s growing educational resource, design, and digital communication needs. This role combines graphic design, educational resource production, limited social media support, and digital content coordination to help strengthen audience engagement and brand consistency.

This role may be structured as either a part-time employee or freelance/contract position, depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.  The position is expected to last approximately 9 months, with the potential to transition into a full-time role based on organizational needs and performance. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

Graphic Design + Educational Resource Production (70%)

  • Design educational PDFs, classroom resources, presentations, and marketing materials
  • Support visual consistency across print and digital materials
  • Maintain and organize Canva templates and branded design systems
  • Support the preparation and formatting of annual report, fundraising, and campaign-related design materials
  • Work closely with Director of Program Operations to ensure designs meet accessibility guidelines
  • Create and update educational resource materials using established templates and brand standards

Digital Content Support (20%)

  • Provide limited support for website and digital content updates as needed
  • strengthen visual storytelling and audience engagement and digital communications across digital channels

Social Media Support (10%)

  • Leverage AI for social media content creation, coordination, scheduling, and publishing
  • Create social media graphics and digital content assets

Experience/Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of graphic design, visual communications, content production, or related experience preferred, including internships, freelance work, or nonprofit experience
  • Expert proficiency in Canva required as this role will work almost exclusively in Canva.
  • Experience supporting organizational social media accounts preferred
  • Strong visual design, organization, and communication and content production skills
  • Candidates with backgrounds in marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design, or related fields are encouraged to apply
  • Dependability, good time management and organizational skills, and attentiveness to detail
  • An innovative mindset that is continuously seeking creative solutions
  • Ability to work strategically within a team structure as well as independently
  • Experience working within nonprofit, education, or mission-driven organizations preferred
  • At least one day a week in our offices based in Winnetka, IL. The remainder is flexible. Your work schedule must be consistent and fall within the core hours of operation (10am-2pm).
