Job Description

We’re Part and Sum, a collective of curious people who help our clients bring new ideas to market and use data to grow businesses. Our strategy consulting work is powered by customer insights and our media agency work is designed to help us learn and drive continuous improvement. We have an impressive track record for a small-ish team - we work with the biggest brands in the world (alongside smaller brands, too) and we have ambitions to expand our influence over the next decade.

As a Senior Manager/Associate Director of Marketing Strategy you will join our team of talented strategists, growth marketers and data specialists focused on developing marketing and product strategies that drive business outcomes. What you'll do:

Delivery on client accounts

  • Develop and consult on marketing strategies, across multiple disciplines such as brand, connections, comms, media, UX + CX.
  • Deliver strategies that align with clients’ goals.
  • Conduct research to provide actionable and evidence-based insights to clients.
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of category and competitive activity, and keep a finger on the pulse of existing and emerging consumer and cultural trends.
  • Identify creative solutions to engage clients’ customers through emerging technologies and cross-channel planning.
  • Consult with your clients with empathy and smarts.
  • Build relationships with key client stakeholders.

Project and team leadership

  • Action and prioritize roadmaps and project plans to achieve client objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams internally.
  • Ensure that the brief is being met and that we are delivering GREAT WORK. Identify and find solutions for gaps between capability and client need.
  • Support leadership in day-to-day strategic output by leading a talented, dynamic team of associate, mid, and senior strategists.
  • Coach, mentor (optional), empower, teach, and inspire the team.
  • Set clear delivery expectations based on business needs (we have tools for this!).
  • Provide feedback on where individuals are performing and areas for improvement.

  • Marketing Strategy Experience: You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in marketing strategy across brand, connections, comms, media and/or UX and CX. Agency/marketing consultancy experience is required.
  • Curiosity & Creativity. You are a curious individual, constantly staying on top of trends in culture and the marketing industry. You can connect the dots to identify interesting insights and pitch provocative ideas.
  • Project Management. You are organized and can simultaneously manage multiple engagements while consistently delivering high-quality work.
  • Consulting and facilitation: You are a skilled facilitator and can navigate a variety of different personalities and work styles.
  • Executive presence: You can confidently present your work to, consult, and influence the decision-making of C-Suite-level executives.
  • Flexibility of thinking. You can think across the full marketing spectrum and flex your thinking from high (vision and brand) to low (tactical execution). You have strong opinions that are loosely held.

  • Competitive Base Salary: Your specific base salary offer will be determined by your career experience and skill level demonstrated in the interview process.
  • Profit Sharing: The target variable compensation for this role is an additional 10-15% of the base salary.

This is a full-time opportunity for individuals living in the New York, Boston, and Los Angeles Metropolitan Areas.

You will be expected to attend some (quarterly) strategic internal or client meetings in person.
