Fractional Product Designer

We are seeking a fractional mid-level product designer to support an early-stage AI skincare app startup expanding from China into the U.S. market.

‍

You'll work closely with the COO to translate sketches, lo-fi mockups, and rough concepts into polished, high-fidelity screens within our existing design system.

‍

This role will focus primarily on usability and interaction design, with some visual design work as needed.

‍

This is a fractional role of up to 20 hours per month and is best suited for a hands-on designer who is comfortable working in a fast-moving, early-stage startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate sketches, rough concepts, and early product ideas into structured user flows
• Create mid- to high-fidelity wireframes, interface designs, and lightweight prototypes for mobile app experiences
• Review existing app flows to identify usability issues, friction points, and opportunities for improvement
• Refine visual and interaction details to improve clarity, consistency, and ease of use
• Adapt design concepts for the U.S. market, with attention to user expectations, terminology, and consumer app patterns
• Partner with the COO to clarify product direction, prioritize design needs, and shape practical UX recommendations
• Collaborate with the technical team to align designs with product requirements and development constraints
• Prepare organized, development-ready design files with clear annotations, states, and handoff notes

Experience Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in UX design, product design, interaction design, or a related role
• Strong portfolio showing mobile app flows, wireframes, and mid- to high-fidelity interface designs
• Proficiency with Figma required; experience with AI design or development tools is a plus
• Experience with consumer apps, beauty, skincare, wellness, AI products, or U.S. market localization is a plus
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
