International Rescue Committee (IRC) is looking for a freelance designer with a sharp eye for Microsoft Word document design.

We need someone who can build a modern, clean, user-friendly Word template completely from scratch (yes, it's possible to make Word look good!).

What I'm looking for:
  • Proven experience building Word templates from the ground up — no starting file, just brand guidelines and reference examples to work from
  • Ability to translate visual references (which may not be in Word format — think PDFs, decks, or other design files) into a fully functional, Word-native template
  • A strong grasp of usability — templates that are easy for non-designers to actually use and update after handoff
  • Portfolio examples showing that translation process, ideally reference material → finished Word template

If you've got a portfolio that shows off polished, well-structured Word templates — think smart use of styles, intuitive formatting, and a design sensibility that doesn't get lost in Word's default clunkiness — I'd love to see your work.

Starting with one focused project, with potential for more design work down the line for the right fit.

Send me an introduction and portfolio link. Open to both short-term and ongoing freelance collaborations.
