Municipal Apparel Company is a dynamic and growing footwear and apparel brand built around quality craftsmanship and community-driven design. Our mission is to create a global movement of inspired people who never stop pursuing their full potential. We create premium apparel and footwear for people whose lives don't fit neatly into categories. Designed to move effortlessly between work, training, travel, and recovery, every product is built on one belief: performance, comfort and style should never require compromise.

We're building a roster of freelance Digital Designers to support our creative team across performance marketing, lifecycle, and brand channels.

This is a time-and-materials engagement — you work when we need you, on the work that fits your strengths, at an hourly rate that reflects the level of the task. No fixed monthly commitment on either side, which means we can engage one or more designers simultaneously depending on campaign load and channel focus.

This is a great fit if you're a designer who:

  • Thinks in systems — you can execute a one-off asset and also maintain the design language that makes it consistent
  • Has real performance marketing experience — you know what makes an ad convert, not just look good
  • Is Figma-native and comfortable working inside an existing component library
  • Thrives on fast timelines and high output without sacrificing craft
  • Wants flexible, ongoing brand work without a full-time commitment

What You'll Design
  • Email & SMS creative — headers, modules, full templates, and banners for lifecycle campaigns
  • Paid media assets — static and animated ad units across Meta, Google, and TikTok
  • Organic social graphics — on-brand templates and campaign one-offs
  • Landing pages — campaign and product page layouts handed off to dev via Figma
  • Figma design system — component builds, library updates, and documentation
  • Asset ops — retouching, resizing, and dev-ready file prep
  • Campaign concepting — creative references, mood boards, and brainstorm support

What We're Looking For
  • A portfolio that shows range across digital channels — email, paid, social, and/or landing pages
  • High proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience working within established brand systems and component libraries
  • Familiarity with AI-augmented design tools (Adobe Firefly, generative fill, etc.) is a plus
  • Ability to hit a 2–4 business day standard turnaround; availability for occasional rush (same/next day) with advance notice
  • Independent contractor status — you operate your own business, carry your own software licenses
  • California residents: must meet CA AB5 independent contractor classification requirements
