Nu Reads, a bimonthly Jewish book subscription series curated by Jewish Book Council is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Marketing & Social Media Manager to join our team on a part-time basis.
This role is perfect for a strategic storyteller who is passionate about Jewish literature and excels at building digital communities.
You will be responsible for elevating our brand presence, fostering deep engagement with our subscribers, and driving growth through integrated digital marketing efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Management & Content Creation
- Develop and maintain a consistent social media calendar across primary platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
- Create engaging, high-quality content that highlights our book selections, author spotlights, and the value of our subscription series.
- Design visual assets for events, book announcements, and holiday-themed campaigns.
Community Engagement
- Actively monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions to foster a welcoming and vibrant community.
- Initiate discussions around Jewish themes, literature, and culture to deepen the relationship between the brand and its followers.
- Identify and collaborate with literary influencers and community partners.
- Assist with building and growing our book club ambassador program
Newsletter Strategy & Execution
- Own the end-to-end email marketing process, working with the director on the editorial planning, and managing execution.
- Write compelling copy for subscription reveals, curated reading lists, and community updates.
- Segment audiences to improve open rates and tailor content to different reader interests.
Paid Media & Growth (Optional but Preferred)
- Manage and optimize paid social campaigns (specifically Instagram/Meta Ads) to drive new subscriptions.
- Experience with lookalike audiences and interest-based targeting within the literary or Jewish communal space is a significant plus.
- Track and report on key performance metrics (ROI, CPA, and engagement rates).
Qualifications
- Experience: Social media management, digital marketing, and community building.
- Literary & Jewish Culture Interest: A genuine love for books and a deep familiarity with Jewish culture, traditions, and contemporary literature.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), social media scheduling tools, and basic graphic design.
- Communication: Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different platforms.
Position Details
- Hours: Part-time (approx. 15 – 20 hours per week).
- Location: Remote / Flexible, Must be available during daytime working hours.
- Reporting to: Program Director
