Wayne Talley is a veteran creative director and brand designer with a career that spans the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, VP Design Director at Fame retail agency, 15 years with Target Marketing, and 15 years running his own agency, Black Retail, as President.
Those years in senior design and leadership gave Wayne a deep understanding of brand development, in-store marketing, store design, and packaging systems. He's worked with Target, DreamWorks, JCPenney, Walmart, Sam's Club, and many others — bringing an enterprise-level sensibility to every project he takes on today.
Wayne approaches every engagement with a research-first mindset — taking time to understand the brand, its audience, and the competitive landscape before any design work begins. That foundation is what separates identity work that lasts from work that dates quickly.
Clients range from early-stage founders building their brand identity for the first time to established businesses ready to evolve a visual system that no longer reflects who they've become. In every case, the goal is the same: design that feels unmistakably right and connects authentically with the right audience.
The best brand design work earns its place in the world — not just on a screen or a business card, but in the way people feel when they encounter the brand. That's the standard that guides every project, and it's why clients return for additional work and refer others who have the same standards.
If you're looking for a partner who takes your business seriously and delivers work that produces results, this is a strong fit. The best engagements start with a real conversation about what you need — not a templated proposal.
Wayne's background in retail brand design is rare — available for clients who need packaging design and retail brand expertise at a serious level.
